Oba is a district of Alanya that begins just beyond the city hospital and stretches all the way to the Dim River. Five minutes by dolmuş from the centre, ten minutes on foot from the sea. This is home to those who chose Alanya not for a season, but for good.
Oba's main advantage is its layout. Quiet green streets, developed infrastructure, two large supermarkets, a clinic, two schools and three parks. At weekends a huge bazaar operates on the main street, Atatürk Bulvarı, drawing people even from Mahmutlar.
The cost of apartments in Oba is 15–20% lower than in the new projects of Kargıcak, but higher than in Mahmutlar. For
Long-term rent is 25–35 thousand lira a month for a 2+1, which corresponds to a yield of 4.5–6% per annum. Short-term rental is less popular — the district is geared towards permanent residents.
If you are choosing between bustling Mahmutlar and calm Oba, our advice is: spend at least one January day in Oba. The quiet, the clean air from the mountains and unhurried coffees in a local café will explain a great deal.
